CARIBOARD ELIMINATES CARCINOGENICS
CARIBOARD SAVES THE FOREST |
CARIBOARD'S ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS Due to environmental damage caused in the past decades, the importance of environmental protection is increasing.Environmental lobbies are formed one after the other, and the activity of private organizations is also strengthening. Many undertakings now consider that it is worthwhile stressing in their marketing activity the environmental character of their produces or technology or the sensitivity of the firm towards environmental problems.
INNOVATION UTILIZING LOCALLY AVAILABLE, REPLENISHABLE AGRICULTURAL WASTE
Cariboard is an environmentally friendly product for the 21st century and is manufactured with annually renewable agricultural waste. The reason being is that urea-formaldehyde resins (UF) and phenol-formaldehyde (PF) have been used as binder for wood-based products since the 1930's.Melamine resins (MR) and melamine-urea-formaldehyde resins (MUF) were introduced during the 1940's.Since then, the consumption of these resins have increased enormously. However, by using these resins, one experiences a serious drawback in the fact that they release toxic formaldehyde and that they are well known to be CARCINOGENIC. Panel board products have historically been made using trees as the raw material. However, due to government restrictions of old growth forests, wildlife protection and public demand, there is a lack of easy availability of these raw materials. For these reasons and because of continued demand, the trees that are available are becoming more and more expensive. Replacing forestry material (wood) with agricultural by-products incorporating alternative fibers is becoming increasingly more attractive. The environmental benefits are tremendous.During the necessary production of the world's food supply, agricultural by-products are generated in the countries of origin and creates significant worldwide economic opportunities.
Experience has shown that particleboards as well as MDF and HDF boards can be produced from a wide range of raw materials. The most important consideration is that the base is a useful cellulose fiber and that it is readily available in the quantities required to support planned production capacity.Today's advantage technology makes it possible to design a plant to cope with the various raw materials available and still produce high-quality panels. Burning straw in fields has become difficult due to the enforcement of anti-pollution regulations in many countries, in addition to the tremendous expense involved. In California, for example, more than 1 million tons of rice straw has been burned each fall since the early 1990's, generating an estimated 56,000 tons of carbon monoxide annually. This is twice the amount of carbon monoxide produced inall of the power plants in the United States. Sustainable economic and environmental development of this "problem straw" in the manufacture of particle board, MDF or HDF boards is already realized. Straw is not only a first class raw material for the manufacture of particle board, but is also suitable for thick low-density boards with outstanding insulating and stiffness properties and for the finest MDF or HDF boards. The factory will be entirely pollution free. The aim of the project is to eliminate the use of phenalic or formaldehyde as well as Urea-based resin which is presently used in the manufacturing of forestry based boards. Engineered Environmental Cariboard will be a compact manufacturing operation, paying considerable attention to hygiene, cleanliness and the PROTECTION OF HUMAN RESOURCES.
